Can someone help me sort out these test points? 84 240gl

i need help sorting out these wires that hand in my engine compartment.
1st)by the battery, blue plug 1)blue/white(IAC groud?) wire 1)red
2nd)under intake manifold 1)white wire w/red spiral stripe(it looks spiral) this wire has a female connector(same as knock sensor,oil press. sender...) and the plug has a unprotected end
3rd)also under the intake manifold 2)orange wires that meet a connector. this connector is male(same type of connector) and has a hard black plastic cover.
4th)on the firewall behind intake manifold,beside the big white plastic connector is 1)is a blue wire with a female plug of the same type. the wire has a red jacket covering the first inch or so. It also has a hard black plastic cover
5th)on the firewall, passengers side there is a plug that is the same type as my coolant temperature sensor(2 prong ruber volvo plug) it is 1)yellow w/ red stripe and 1) black wire

I would love it if someone could shed some light on this topic for me. I just cant seem to figure it out with just my haynes manule, I am also afraid to try experimentaion for fear of breaking something. Thanks for any and all responses.
