Seam putty used to mount fenders? 200 1991

I removed a 244 front fender and noticed that the top seam between the fender inner and outer had a layer of putty-lime material. It's not glue, but seems to be used to eliminate squeeks and rattles. DOes anybody know the proper name for this stuff, and where I could get some before reassembling the front end?

Speaking of fenders, I'm looking for a black left front fender (U.S. driver's side) for a newish (say, 1987 or later) 244. I need something in pretty good condition (no rust or dents), and I'm not interested in other colors. I'm willing to travel up to 100 miles from Louisville for a good part. I can take it off the vehicle if you have a parts car. Name your price, or we can trade from my MASSIVE supply of spare parts. Thanks!
