Overdrive Stuck On

I have an 89 780 Bertone and when I got in the car this morning and the overdrive light was on. I was in the car over the weekend doing some work on the middle console which requires me to have the shifter all the way back and probably hit the over drive button by accident. But now it won't go off no matter what I do. And it's not just that the light is on and it's not really in OD, it really is. when I was on the highway this morning doing 75 is was tacked out at 4.5rpm and not shifting, not cool.

If anyone has any thoughts on what this could be or how to get it out of overdrive please let me know. Fortuantely most of my drive is on back roads so I don't go much over 50 but there is a few miles of highway driving.
