brake lines/ transmission advice 140-160

I have not had much luck finding new brake lines for my 140 at a reasonable cost, $250 through Volvo is too much. Does anybody have a better source for these? I would also be interested in steel-braided if they exist. My second question is in regards to the various 5 speed transmission options available for 140's. I have heard of putting in a T5 ford transmission as well as Toyota (unknown model #)in Volvo's but I do not know which option will be the most reliable and relatively cheap. (I know I could probably buy a M41 for about $300c but would prefer to have a true 5-speed). Thanks in advance for all the help.
