Greasecar 200 1984

Hi
Your post was very encouraging. I have been a little concerned about doing damage to the engine, but it has been running so well. I bought the conversion kit from Greasecar - two tank system with a fifteen gallon oil tank. Yesterday after purging for half a minute before shutdown, I ran a few errands in town on diesel - about ten minutes of driving - and the thing started instantaneously this morning. I guess I haven't been getting enough of the oil out of the system to insure a good cold start. I have been putting a little fuel treatment in both tanks to try to keep the injectors clean. By starting up and shutting down on diesel and using oil for all of my highway miles I figure I am getting about 70 miles per gallon of diesel. I have been using pure canola oil in the car. I own a restaurant and that is what I use in the deep fryers. I have been filtering it hot out of the fryer through two commercial fat filters and then pouring it into the tank. How long do you think I can expect to go between onboard fuel filter changes? It has been great not having to throw away or arrange for pickup of the used oil. I spent a lot of time hauling that stuff to the landfill recycling center and leaving it near the used motor oil. I hope the local paper will pick up the story and give me some free press.
