Coolant drain petcock 200 1989

I plan on replacing the radiator this weekend.

I never used the coolant drain (petcock?) before.
I understand it's on exhaust side, by #4 cylinder. Fine.

Any problems with these? I'd hate to have it break off or not seal properly when closing up again.

I can always drain via the radiator/pump lower hose instead, but that's messy and it will probably lose lots of pretty new coolant that way.

So I'd rather use the petcock if you folks can give me a clean go-ahead on it.

Thanks in advance.
