Oil Change Intervals with synthetic 900

Greetings,
I just started using synthetic Mobil 1 in my 1995 940 (non turbo). The oil looked fairly clean up til 5000 miles when I changed it. Being a firm believer in frequent oil changes, is that too many miles between changes? What have you all found to work?
