Dear jrangel,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. If re-seating the fuel system relay caused an improvement, we may conclude its being loose was part of the problem.

Since the car reverted to limp-home mode, you should replace the fuel system relay. These relays are supposed to seat firmly, such that a little muscle is needed to remove them.

You may be able to get a spare at a salvage yard. If not, go to www.fcpgroton.com

Nick Bauer is fcp's Volvo expert. Let him know your needs, and he'll get the right part, the first time.
