engine has no accelleration 1800 1972

I have just purchased a 1972 volvo 1800E. The owner said his mechanic thought it needed valve work. The compression is 170 three cylinders and 150 on the 2nd cylinder ,there is no excessive valve noise and the car dose idal okay.Oil pressuse is Okay. But when you try and excellerate in crapes out , then in will rev up. I've had lots of suggestions from cam problems, cracked manifolds valves, etc. Any ideas or suggestions.
