Repl. AMM on 88, still considering 87 w/5 speed.... 200

Thanks to everybody here on the BB, my intuition was correct when my 88DL suddenly died on the highway last Fri. Saturday a.m., I went to the junkyard and picked up a used 007 AMM for $25, installed it on the spot, and drove away good as ever.

I'm still considering the 87 240 DL Wagon w/ 5-speed. I stopped by and looked at it again yesterday. The car appears to have never been bumped banged or scratched, the body is straight as an arrow, and theres no rust anywhere that I could find. The paint is original. There is only 98,000 miles on the odometer.

To ease my fears, I think I will buy the 87, and keep my 88 for a while, just until I'm sure I've gotten all the bugs worked out of the 87, or at least until I know this new (older) car as intimately as I do my 88. When I'm ready to let the 88 go, I can pick and pull everything I want off of it for the 87.

Does this sound logical? (Uh-oh, am I begining to become a Volvo collector???)

Happy Independence Day, hope everybody is enjoying their weekend!!!!
