cleaning the EGR valve? 900

I purchased a 95 940 turbo recently and I have a few questions concerning the EGR valve.
1) My Chilton's manual says the valve is only installed on the Ca. models, yet I have a valve above the starter and below the IAC valve, that has a stainless steel tube running from this valve to the top of the intake manifold. Is this an EGR valve?
2) Is there an easy way to clean this valve, and the ports? The 700/900 FAQ details instructions for taking the valve off the car to clean. I wondered if you can disconnect the pipe at the manifold, clean the ports, then spray throttle body cleaner down the tube to clean the valve. Sounds too easy to work. Any suggestions? Would this method damage the EGR valve? Do I have to clean any pipe or ports going to the exhaust?
