heating up....water pump leak. 140-160 1975

Hello bricksters,
My 75 164 has a heating up problem. I changed the oil, bought and installed a new radiator res. cap, filled up the res. and drove about 20 blocks. As I pulled up to my house I noticed the temp was past midway and turned off the engine, a loud bubbling sound came from under the hood and with the ignition on and the motor off the temp climbed up almost to the yellow on my temp gauge. I opened up the hood and noticed a very small trail of bright green coming from around the water pump. Have I fried my water pump or blown my head gasket? Any input is appreciated.
