Elusive Valve Tap Condition 900 1998

My 98 V90 runs as smoothly as one could wish except for an occasional valve tap.
It seems to occur after a long drive. I can hear it while the car is idling.
I can shut the ignition off and restart it immediately and the tap is gone.
I have tried AutoRx and combustion chamber cleaners...I wish I have the money back for all of those items. The high RPM running for several minutes has worked in the past. I can run the engine in Low gear at about 4500 RPM for a few miles/minutes and I will not hear the tap again for weeks. Then it returns.
The engine consumes little to no oil between 4000 mile change intervals. I have switched to a 10w-40 for summer and may stay with it.

Suggestions??
