Different versions of M40 gearbox ? 140-160

Someone may know the answer to this ....

I was reading through the FIA homologation documents for the 140
series, and they were actually homologated with TWO different
sets of ratios in the 4-speed M40 box.....

The "normal" ratio set which are (1st to 4th) 3.13, 1.99, 1.36, 1.00
and also an alternative close ratio set which are 2.62, 1.67, 1.24, 1.00

The homologation dates right back to the first B18-engined 142.

Anyone know if the close ratio box ever come out in a production
model ? Or were they just a R-Sport/Volvo Competition Service option ?

I guess they would probably be rarer than rockinghorse poo, but I
was just wondering ...
