740 tailgate latch 700

Hi Everyone,

I picked up an '88 740 Turbo wagon the other day for $300. It's in pretty good shape except for needing new paint. The outer tailgate latch won't open the gate from outside. I have to crawl over the rear seats and open it from inside. After checking the 700 FAQ, I found a post that described the same problem that I'm having. It said to adjust the rod the comes from the outside handle that goes to the latch ( to shorten it ). I took the inner panel off this evening but couldn't find anyway to adjust the rod. Any suggestions as to how I should fix this?
