Charging System Failing Again? 120-130

Unless you KNOW what the lights on your charging indicator mean in terms of
system voltage, you'd probably do yourself a favor to disconnect it. Borrow
somebody's voltmeter and find out what your system voltage is at idling and
operating speed. Until you KNOW what is happening, your chances of a real
fix are pretty slim, sort of like shooting ducks at night.

I agree that the alternator should be plenty. In fact I am still using the
old generators (with occasional repairs) on my 122s and conclude they are fine.
Unless you are melting the insulation on the wires, heat is probably not a
problem.

Have you replaced or rehabbed your fuse box? That is a source of a lot of
problems and also may give you an amp light when it is actually charging
OK because of internal resistance in the fuse box giving a reduced voltage
to the amp light, so the alternator/generator output may be enough higher
to make it glow with reverse current.
