Charging System Failing Again? 120-130

Sorry about the sparks. Insofar as the heat is concerned, all the LHD b18/b20 Volvos had it that way so it shouldn't be a real concern. Since the fan on the alternator draws air from the rear of the unit, you could rig a shield so it has to draw air from the front rather than the rear, if you felt it were necessary.

I didn't check your previous posts... were the brushes worn? If they were replaced, the insulation between the contacts on the commutator needs to be trimmed down too. Probably much easier to just get a rebuilt unit.
