Where is the 'expansion valve' for the AC system located? 200 1986

I thought it was the large cylindrical container like thing between in line between the compressor and the condenser and physically located right behind the grille?

but I'm not sure since I've read somewhere here that the expansion valve is near the evaporator???

Also where is the "solenoid valve" for the AC system that has a tube which runs to the AC switch... I have a loose connector in my engine compartment that has 2 wires running to it (black and green) and I think it is supposed to hook up to that valve????

thanks

jack
