engine switch, ECM question, 740 turbo 700 1990

I am switching a B230FT with a manual transmission from a 1988 740 turbo station wagon into a 1990 740 sedan that had a non-turbo B230 with Auto transmission. My question is if the ECM from the 1990 non-turbo motor will work with the 1988 engine with a manual transmission. The inductance pickup sendor reads the flywheel in the 1990 engine with the auto trans but the pickup sensor for the 1988 turbo and manual trans is in the distributor. Can I use the flywheel sensor on a manual transmission flywheel? I would like to use the 1990 engine intake manifold because it has a cold-start fuel injector that the 1988 engine doesn't have. I can switch the entire engine wiring harness and ECM from the 1988 to 1990 car if necessary, I just want to know if it will work with the manual trans flywheel.
thanks
