exhaust leak 120-130

I keep on getting a leak between the manifold and the exhaust pipe. The manifold was pretty corroded and covered with some kind of sealing goop. It's definitely not a pristine surface, even after extensive scraping and cleaning. One parts shop suggested hight temp gasket compound (Permatex hight temp RTV silicone) which lasted for a few days... I do have the proper support brackets that come off the bell housing, and everything seems to be lining up OK.

Anyone know of a magic goop that would avoid having to remove the manifold and studs and re-face the surface?

Thanks

John Hulls
