Hi,
Thanks for the info.

I have had the book for awhile now and have read it a few times. I guess I need to re-read it.

The last time I had a major problem with my fi was about 15 years ago and I just swapped in a different control pressure regulator (from a junkyard) and that did the trick.

You are right I should get the CIS fuel injection gauge from JC Whitney before I waste any time or money on parts. Have you used that particular tester? Is it good quality?

My car is old. I have had it for a very long time and have been using it as a daily driver for more than 20 years. I just drove it out to Durango and Crested Butte Colorado and back (from northen California) without any probelms (besides the hard cold start which has been happening for awhile).
The fuel pump, fuel accumulator, fuel distributor, have never been replaced.
I bought the check valve from rpr thinking I would start there. I think I will get the gauge, look at my manuals and start over.
