pre-heater hose to the manifold heat shield 200

you know that aluminum ribbed tube that stretches from the air box to the heat shield? On the manifold side, is the heat shield opened to the hose? Earlier I posted how I got oil on the manifold and the heat shield and had to hose it down. I just realied that if the connection between the heat shield and pre-heater hose is open, then water must have drained down into the hose since I poured water on the heat shield (the inside where the manifold hides behind. Grrrrr, if that is the case then I will have to take out the hose and dry it or buy a new one since it's the original, I think. I'm not too thrilled about taking the belly pan off--actually it's putting it back on that is hard!
