cooling system problems 200 1981

Was it overheating after you replaced the belts and before you replaced the water pump and rad? If so, slipping/loose belts?

If it wasn't overheating until after you replaced the water pump, I'd suspect the pump.

If the upper rad hose gets hot, then the thermostat is opening.

Sometimes the fan clutch is bad but, if the rad is good, overheating won't show unless in slow traffic.

BTW, when you see overheating, throw on the heating system and blower (windows open). The additional rad will help lower engine temps.
