AW70L Transmission Experts?????? 700 1990

1990 740 GL with AW70L Transmission. I recently put in a tranny and torque converter from the boneyard to replace my old unit that had 358,000 miles on it. The new tranny looks to have approximately 90,000 miles. Prior to installation I replaced the rear bushing, seal, etc. replaced the filter and of course new fluid. It really shifts sweetly (great improvement over the old tranny). I have determined that the lockup torque converter is NOT locking up. There appears to be two pressure taps on the side of the tranny, both on the driver side. The one just forward of the rear tail housing joint I presume is the Governor pressure tap. Is this correct?? The other pressure tap is just below the Overdrive Solenoid. Anyone know what this one is for???

Also, anyone got any ideas for troubleshooting this problem before I dig into the valve body where my guess the valves are to engage the lockup clutch.

Anything on the Internet to help? I have looked high and low and can’t find much.

Thanks in advance.

Guy P.
