charging problems - again!

Bruce,

All of the dash lights are working when the key is on. The voltage drops about .2 volts from the B+ to the positive post of the battery, so I think it is OK.

I get 1.5 volts at the D+ with the key on, and I think that is within spec - please let me know if not.

I suspect something is wrong with the main pump - here is why:

If I pull all fuses except the tank pump and main pump the voltage stays about 12+. If I unplug the main pump the voltage jumps up to 13-14 for a few seconds before the car dies from lack of fuel. The main pump is drawing about 4 amps, the tank pump is drawing about 2 amps, both of which are a little less than spec from what I read from others on the board.

To elimiate the circuit to the pump I ran a jumper to it from the battery and I still don't get good charging.

As I mentioned before swapping out the relay fixed this problem the last time it occured, but I don't want to pay for one until I eleiminate other possibilites. Also jumping around the relay didn't make any difference this time.

Any ideas f what else I should try.

Thanks
