First Drive. 120-130

Hello All,

I just wanted to let you all know that I went for my first drive in the 122s last night, just around the block, but it was good for the soul. I still have to finish knocking off the filler from the rear fender repair, as well as the door and sill areas, then I have the front suspension and rear brakes. So it isn't quite done, but at least it moves.

I pulled out the aluminum timing gears (the crank gear is steel and the cam gear is aluminum), and after 5 - 10 minutes of running they were severly damaged. The cam gear had shed rather a lot of aluminum at the tops of the gear teath and was is very rough shape. I wouldn't suggest anyone go with this set. I replaced them with a steel set and they not only fit better, but I can hardly hear them.

Now to finish the rest and still enjoy the car for a few months.

Cheers,
Craig
