Check that you battery is firmly held in place first then start looking at wiring connections (ground strap big possibility). Potential that weak of dead engine mounts are placing strain on cable or grounding something when large deceleration load on engine (shifting forward).

Inturrupted grounds tend to have bizzare symptoms because the current will follow the path of least resistance. That can cause some circuits to work "backward."
