Yes! Put the key in after the drum is started on and be sure the key only goes as deep as the washer would otherwise push it on!
If the drum pulls the key too far inward it will not be a KEY anymore but a LOCK that not even the correct puller will have an easy time with (plus, it'll crack the drum right where it rides the felt seal).
