Idle adjustment using linkage is it ok?? 1991 940 turbo

I am very new at this so please be patient.

Just cleaned the Throttle body and upon install, engine idled at 2500 rpm!!!

I fiddled with the linkage (black plastic ends connected to a ball type screw on both ends)and got the idle down to about 1000. Engine was already warm. Is it ok to drive the car around like this.

I did not fiddle with the idle screw that was on the throttle body, should I fiddle with that?

I tried pinching the IAC hose and nothing happened (by the way IAC hoses was heavily coated with oil!!
