Water Pump 200

This is reference to a 240GL '88

I'm trying to get the god-for-saken water pump on, and I absolutely CANNOT get the bolts to line up properly. I've lightly tightened the 2 nuts first, then used a pry bar to lift the pump up and then ATTEMPTED to get the remaining 3 bolts screwed in. DOESN'T WORK. So.....I try to lightly tighten the top bolt first, then the 2 nuts, then the 2 remaining bolts...........it won't seal properly. I could possible completely tighten the first nut and hope to lodge the seal in there, but I was afraid of ripping the precious rubber seal that would take another 14 weeks to ship to my house where my BRICK has been sitting for 4 weeks now, and I on the other hand have been walking to work in 95 degree heat 3 miles each way, sweating bullets, only to come home and look and my poor broken down, beat up brick!!!!!

Ahem, sorry.......

any suggestions?

Thanks,

a very frustrated Goat.
