Reassembling my B20: a few questions 120-130

Hi all,
Time has at last come for me to build my long awaited B20E that's gonna be dropped in my 121. Holidays give me more time to work on it...

So today I started with a bare block and ended up with the crankshaft, pistons and conrods as well as camshaft and timing gears in it. Pretty good job for a first time! But since it is my first full B20 rebuild, there are a few things I'm not sure about:

1) timing gears: I can insert a 0,15 mm gauge between the teeth of the gears. Is this OK? Is this measurement what the haynes manual refers to as the "Timing gear backlash"? If yes I'm screwd!
2) fiber timing gear: I cleaned the part in alcohol (bad idea?) to get rig of the old greasy stuff that was on it. After that I noticed that when the gear was fitted, if I would try to move te gear, some remaining alcohol would come out from and go back in between the metal part of the gear (that connects to the camshaft) and the fiber gear itself. This seems to indicate that the fiber part of the gear can move very slightly relatively to its metal centre. Is this how it's supposed to be? Is it shot?
3)Pistons/rings: after fitting the camshaft, it would turn totally freely in the block. But since I have put the pistons in (new rings and honed cylinder walls) it is really hard to turn the shaft. I even need to use the pulley bolt and a wrench to turn it. Is this OK? I guess it is, but as I've only put new rings on a 2-cylinder engine so far, it seems pretty unusual...

OK, that's it for today, folks, probably more to come tomorrow!! Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for your help!!

Cheers Séb
