Engine Code Question 200 1993

Sorry to ask this, since I know these probably get asked a lot. I did look in the FAQ first... honest.

I just got a new 240 and was doing the diagnostics as prescribed by Ringlee's FAQ and the Bentley manual. This is an LH 2.4. I was testing the FI in mode 2 (control function 2). I had a couple of negatives according to the charts in both resources.

The wide open throttle test (item 6, 241-7 in the Bentley manual) gave me a 332 code. It should be 333. This is no big deal if all it means is that I need to fix the switch. Also, I know I can do more tests to pinpoint the problem.

The second issue was the RPM sensor test (item 8, 241-7 in the Bentley manual). I got a 231 code. It should be 331.

I'm wondering if the code is meaningful other than it is not the expected code.

I'm going to run out right now and swap the RPM sensor off the 740 which is known to be working.

I just did these checks as a matter of routine. However, I am experiencing quite a bit of sluggishness. It struggles up steep hills, for example. So there are symptoms prompting me to start hunting down a problem. As far as that goes, I have no real questions since I have not looked into it a great deal at this point.

Thanks.
