A question about handling 900 1994

I've had this problem ever since having the car (half a year) and not sure what could be the cause. The symptom is, when the car hits a pothole or a ridge on road at relatively high speed, it feels like the two front wheels pull to different directions and the pull can be felt through the steering wheel. The body also has a relatively big dshake right after that. The car runs perfectly on flat road and handles pretty well, nothing feels loose.
The car has new sway bar link bushings, new poly strut rod bushings, and new front ball joints. I jacked up the car and shake the front wheels and there were no play. The car has 100K miles. I found the RWD volvo's front end very simple, the tie rod ends look OK (judged by no play on front wheels), and the only part I am not sure is the shocks. Could they cause the problem? I have driven cars with blown shocks, but the feeling did not feel exactly the same.
