my 88 240 gl is stuck at my cousins house, a couple weeks ago i dont know if you remember i posted about my car cutting out on me, runs sporadically like it is strained for fuel. i suspected the gas can i used to put gas in it when i ran completely out not far from my house. I do usually run low a great deal. I also heard that when you do this you start to strain the fuel pumps. Well anyhow, i replaced the fuel filter a couple weeks ago ran great no problems at all. i drove it everyday, interstate and all got up to 90 (no working solenoid lol) until last night. It cut off on me a couple times and when i started home i barely made it to the end of the street.
So i guess what im asking for is a solution to try and rid the fuel system of this trash in my tank, any ideas?. I dont know what could be in my tank, but these filters are 15.99 a piece, i can barely afford to fix it this time. The car is at my cosuins house parked in the road. Im going to pick up a filter im only going to assume i need it. here is my planned course of action. disconnect the hose at the end of the regulator, see how much fuel is coming out with bad filter. replace filter. see how much fuel comes out with good filter. That way i can be sure it is the filter i need. other than that i am lost. there is a filter for the in-tank pump too right? can you replace those as well? any help would be great, thanks.
