It won't start on it's own, I can push start though . . . 700

I can see the a 12 volt signal at the soleoid when the ignition is turned to the III position, so I think that is working just fine.

I'm not finding any bad electrical connections, and the car wouldn't start with a second car available to jump it (wired through engine block as you had suggested).

If I can get the starter out (two bolts - just need to figure out how to reach them) can I bench test it - seems less risky that trying to do the same with jumper cables and the unit in the car, but maybe not. The starter could very well have 160,000+ miles on it . . . wish i knew.

Looks like a rebuilt starter is ` $110 - not a big deal if I can swap it myself and not have to worry about it anymore.
