Service Engine light is ON - '93 245. How to reset?? 200 1993

On my '89 240, I simply reached behind the speedo instrument cluster area and pushed up on the small lever in order to reset the "Check Engine" light that comes on every 5,000 miles or so.

On my '93 245, there is a small place on the FRONT of the speedo cluster to place a pencil or pen to reset the "Service Engine" light that comes on every 10,000 miles (i think).

When I press the little button on the '93, the Service Engine light still comes on after I start the car and remains on for two minutes. How do I reset this light? Maybe I'm missing something. Do I need to have the ignition on or something?? off???

Thanks,
Cabbie2169
