Wiring harness upgraded? 200 1985

I am going to look at an '85 244 in a couple of hours. How can I tell if the wiring harness has been upgraded? Are there any other major problems with this year I should look for?

Oh also the guy selling it mentioned that it there is a clunk or lurch as it shifts from first to second, and that the OD works but the light goes off and on. Recent repairs include alternator, water pump replaced. Full break job.
