Rack tube repair update 700

My 740 16v 89 wagon leaked all its power steering fluid over the driveway. I took the rack off and the problem was the 1/4 inch tubes were rusted to the point they leaked. Being unwilling to spend $250 for a new rack I decided to repair the tubes. I found a relatively good spot near each end and cleaned the 1/4" tube with a file and emery paper and cut it off with a fine hacksaw. I purchased 2 5/16 brake lines from the auto parts store and carefully bent it over a saw horse to join the two cut ends. The 5/16 tube was a close fit over the original 1/4inch tube. I cleaned all the ends and brazed them together. Total cost about $9. I cleaned and painted the ends and reinstalled it and it seems ok. For an old car it seemed like a good fix. I welcome your thoughts.
Best regards Steve
