I think my CPR is dead 200 1989

Hi everyone

I have a B230E with a K-jet, no lambda, has an AAV. I've solved a drifting idle by replacing the injector seals. Now after driving the car for some time I've noticed something else. It takes me 15 to 30 minutes city driving for the idle to rise from 700 to 900. If I speed up on the highway it'll take less. Once it reaches 800-900 it'll stay there.

Going through the forum and from the knowledge imparted to me by fellow bricksters the CPR and the AAV help to increase the idle when engine is cold. I was also informed that they will do their job in 2 minutes.

I've recheched the AAV. Resistance Ok. Cresent opening present on a cold engine. For good measure I adjusted it so it was at max opening at cold. I've cleaned it before and it still looked clean so I didn't bother cleaning it again. Hoses all ok.

Now to the CPR, some time ago I measured the resistance and got a reading. Now 0 ohms! I'm guessing that my heating element is shot and causing the idle to take a long time to come up? If so what are my choices? I've heard it's not essential to the running of the engine, so should I let it be? Assuming I can't get a new one (expensive) or a junked one (lack of availability) should I open it up?

From the archive there was mention of rust and sediments inside the CPR but very little on replacing the heating element. Can they be replaced? Any pointers in opening up the CPR? Does the 2 hoses going to it contain fuel? Sorry for all the questions and the long post. Appreciate any help. Thanks
