Runs Rough when Hot on Hot days 700 1989

I have an 1989 Volvo 740 with an 2.3 OHC 8 vlave engine. On Hot days, like today (95* temp), The engine will Miss and Buck all the way down the road, and will idle rough and all, in fact the tach jumps all over the place.When the weather cools off and I let the car sit for an Half hour, the car will run fine. I got this car from a friend and he has changed almost every part on the engine, and now I have it to try to fix it. I am a Tech for Ford and have no experence with these cars. I talked to a friend who worked for Volvo and He told me that these cars had alot of problems with ECU's. and that is what usualy fixes them. The problem is at 450.00 It is an expensive guess. Has anyone on the forum had a problem like this, and if so what fixed it? Also if anybody has a Spare ECU they would like to sell I would be interested in buying it. Thanks for your time...Todd
