740 Fuel Pump fuse blows 700 1985

In February I replaced the original main fuel pump after 240K miles because it was blowing the fuse. I had previously replaced the in-tank pump last year. After 5 months the fuse blowing has started again mostly when my 17 year old son drives the brick. My son says he thinks it may be related to high engine revs? Not sure why he'd say that, but kids! I'm guessing the after market pump is overheating. When it blows, we replace the fuse and it almost immediately blows again. After sitting a short period, it works fine until the kid drives it again!

I chased the pump and fuel injector wires (on the same circuit according to the schematic) and everything looks fine. I'm lost. Anyone have any ideas? Is the new pump going bad already?
