Yet another A/C question- 700

Sorry to say, but you have got to evacuate under vacuum for an hour before you can add any refrigerant.

Add to that the fact that your previous refrigerant had leaked out and I would take this to a qualified shop and have them -

put it under vacuum
fix the leaks
...then fill it up.
