'93 945T, exhaust question 900

My car, a 1993 945T, is getting louder and louder. The previous owner (my brother-in-law) had Midas put on one of their mufflers, would it be worthwhile to have them put on the new one or is there really a difference between the Volvo mufflers and generic ones? Performance wise, I'm not that concerned about how it looks.

Also, if I do go with a Volvo (or Volvo-like) muffler, where can I get one? I see that www.ipdusa.com and www.vlvworld.com sell exhaust pipes and mufflers for non-turbo models, but I have a turbo. And I don't want to spend close to $500 for a "sports" muffler. I'd be doing the work myself, I replaced the pipe and muffler on my old commuter (an '88 Chevy Corsica). Exhaust work isn't fun, but it's not difficult either, plus I know a welder who can seal the new pipe onto the cat for me with no problem.

Also, I've never really been that impressed with the pickup of my car even though it is a turbo; I've had it for about a year and a half now. Is it possible that the Midas muffler is too small and restricing the exhaust in some way, affecting performance?
