air filter NEEED TO VENT! 200 1989

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! In a nutshell, the Mann air filter I got fron FCP is not a perfect fit! It's a bit longer and will only fit if you squish the rubber seal into the filter box lid. But that's not the main cause of my ire. I could not for the life of me snap the lid back onto the air box. I disconnected the AMM from the plastic U-shaped tube that has two hose clamps on either side. I could not disconnect the tube from the air box lid. That, and there is the upper radiator hose, the power steering hose and just the tight space in the air box area made everything soooooooooo difficult. I am still seething with rage! I'm hot and sweating. I gave up and put everything back--no filter. First thing in the morning I will go to the dealership and throw them $30 for a genuine VOLVO air filter. It's a perfect fit, and it has two cardboard pieces that keeps the filter rigid, easy for installation I spent nearly two hours wrestling with the Mann filter and the air box. I had to stop before I went nuts and get too careless. Changing the air filter is soo easy in theory but it's really a pain when you do it. I'd rather do an oil change than change the air filter. Last time was difficult, but at least I got it on, must be the VOLVO filter. This Mann filter I have is now stained with black smudges is less than new now. Ugh. I'm pooped!
