245 Disaster Averted, Back To The 164 Transmission 140-160

I "sold" my '83 245 to a "friend". Nine days later, I have the car back, with 2500 extra miles on it, filthy, broken central locking and stinking of smoke. In short, they didn't pay, they abused the car and I was a fool for letting them do it. Now, after four evenings of work, it is clean and all repaired once more. See if I do THAT ever again... Now I get to put the 245 back on the market, but I'm in no hurry, having the 7-passenger vehicle has been useful lately.

Now I can turn my attention back to the 164 that I bought with "good engine and tranny", according to the seller. Good trannies don't have metal and rubber bits in the pan. The rear servo had basically fallen apart. After a couple of days of looking, I have located the parts at Seatac Parts Warehouse. I'm surprised they had them in stock. They always hook me up and come highly reccommended. I pick up my parts on the way home tonight and get to spend the evening reassembling the transmission. Then, I will finally get to start the car and see how the brakes feel with the new hoses and pads. I must be a glutton for punishment.
