Bushings? 200

One of the commonest linkage problems in older 240's is the bushings on the linkage. These wear away and prevent the linkage from lining up and moving smoothly. It's ironic that they're so cheap, and such a nuisance to replace (you have to get under the car).
I'd say the odds are in favor of this being the problem, rather than something inside the transmission.
