engine trouble w/ 740 GLE 700 1985

I need help finding the problem with my engine. I was driving home when the oil light just came on and the engine just cut out. There was no noise of any kind when it happened. It's not locked up. It can turn over, but won't start. There's no vibrations in the exhuast system. Could it be the timing belt or something along that line. Any help would be very appreciated.
