I've got a 90 740 NA with what I assume to be the low-friction "slappers". It DEFINITELY slaps when cold. Not that I would ever go to the effort with that car (but you never know), I was wondering if that block can be rebuilt with the long skirt pistons, or does some balancing issue come into play?

Another thing I wondered, besides the cooling oil connections, etc, what are the differences between a turbo and NA block? Is the difference in compression ratio handled in the head? Where I'm going with this, is that if I were to somday hit the wrecking yards for a replacement engine, the ability to use a late 940 turbo block with my NA head would open up that many more opportunities of finding a low mileage engine. Plus, it would come with oil squirters, right? Or are the heads the same and the pistons different? I would think the cams would be different????

A bunch of wierd questions, I know. But I also know you know.

By the way, I was up in your neck of the woods a couple weeks ago. (Spent about 10 days out at San Juan Island visiting family. Enjoyed the cool weather, but now I'm back in Hotlanta and man, it's hot!
