Yes it is a southern hot climate problem with the wrinkles. Since your living up in the great white north you will need to put four good snow tires on the car in the winter. I haven't run mine in the snow yet so I can't tell you how it performs. Since 1981 I have owned a 242 Turbo, 744 Turbo and 745 Turbo and ran all in the snow with 4 snows and I have never gotten stuck. Most of the time I'm passing the FWD's that are running around on all seasons with a few miles on them. Agree with replacing the tensioners when doing the belt. My dealer has seen twice where the tensioners came apart 10K to 20K miles after a timing belt replacement. When I got mine done at 67K I had the tensioners replaced also. It is cheap insurance to get them done at the time the belt is done. I wouldn't expect the dealer to do a major 30K or replace the belt on a used car for you.
