1986 240 DL warning light 200 1986

I have recently purchased a used 1986 240DL wagon. It has some minor problems that I was aware of when I bought the car but it seems to run fairly well with 190,000 miles on it. I noticed that during braking there is a light that comes on in the dash window and I don't know what it is. It is a picture of a light bulb with an X through it. It flickers when the brakes are gently applied and then as more pressure is applied it goes out. My guess is that it has something to do with the brakes or fluid level, but I'm a little confused because the warning light immediatly to the left of this one says "brake failure" on it (it is not coming on). I have checked the brake fluid level and it looks ok. I did not get an owners manual with this car. Any help on this issue will be appreciated so I can get the problem fixed.
